Cafe Sous Chef Position Overview

The Cafe Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and excellence in our kitchen's daily operations. They guarantee that all par levels are met in the prep kitchen, oversee the execution of menus throughout service, and effectively manage and develop Line Cooks, BOH Team Members, and hourly team members.

This key position consistently delivers a culture of Enlightened Hospitality to guests and team members alike. The Cafe Sous Chef collaborates with Front of House and Back of House team members to enforce systems, routines, and checklists, while providing exceptional guest experiences across all channels, including in-restaurant dining, third-party delivery, and catering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Front of House and Back of House team members to enforce systems, routines, and checklists, as well as deliver exceptional guest experiences across all channels, including in-restaurant dining, third-party delivery, and catering.
  • Maintain high performance and uphold excellence & hospitality throughout each day's specific service periods.
  • E nsure consistent execution of food and timely flow of service by directing the team and expediting service effectively.
  • Educate FOH Team Members on all aspects of food menu & culinary procedures through tastings and staff presentation.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with dining room leaders and line staff at all times.
  • Ensure that all recipes, product, food preparations and food execution meet specifications and commitment to culinary excellence.
  • Guarantee all team members are appropriately trained to execute their stations properly, partnering with the Cafe Chef to ensure new hires are adequately trained before beginning their roles.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. They should have a strong understanding of culinary procedures and be able to train and develop team members effectively.
