The Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery in Dundas produces altar breads that are distributed to parishes across Canada. Our small team works collaboratively in various capacities to produce and ship all incoming orders ensuring that they are quality checked and received on time. Our team works Monday to Thursday - 7:00am to 2:45pm.

Job Overview
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in various operational tasks, ensuring that our production processes run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a proactive individual who is willing to learn and adapt to different roles within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing of batter including measuring of raw materials following established recipes;
  • Operating conveyor wafer baking equipment;
  • Sorting and storing of fragile, baked wafer sheets;
  • Loading and setting controls on hydration unit;
  • Operating roll and punch cutting, vertical form-fill packaging equipment;
  • Maintaining quality control by inspecting finished products;
  • Hand packaging product of various sizes;
  • Preparing shipping boxes and filling with packaged product;
  • Recording production data and quantities;
  • Practicing safety procedures always including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures;
  • Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to the Production Coordinator
  • Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately to the Production Coordinator;
  • Participates in Fire Safety procedures;
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of all bakery equipment, tools and work areas.

Experience

  • Previous experience in the food industry or food processing is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with mechanical operations and basic maintenance of equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices is essential for maintaining compliance with health regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are highly valued.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
