Function of the role:
We work across a wide range of industries; from scientists developing medical technology to architects working on groundbreaking construction projects. Working within a team of science, IT, and engineering consultants, you will build your own relationships with senior decision‑makers and manage cutting‑edge research projects.
Primary focus: provide technical advice to Canadian companies by investigating their latest R&D projects to identify qualifying work. You will work with existing and new clients who invest in R&D, extending and expanding their businesses and optimizing costs, providing advice from both tax and science/engineering perspectives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review computer engineering‑related SR&ED claims covering industries such as software development, hardware, electronics, telecommunications, and financial services.
- Generate new cost‑saving opportunities for businesses related to their R&D projects.
- Draft clear technical and financial documents related to R&D activities.
- Liaise with high‑profile clients and senior executives such as Managing Directors, Financial Directors, CEOs, CTOs.
- Interact with the tax authority to defend the claim if necessary.
- Run workshops, present seminars, and participate in conferences to share professional views on R&D tax reliefs and other R&D funding sources.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and identify new business opportunities.
Required Experience and Skills:
- University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the IT or electronics sector with direct experience in preparing or consulting on SR&ED claims.
- Strong knowledge of R&D processes in software development, hardware engineering, a telecommunications.
- Curiosity, awareness, and interest in science, technology, and innovation.
- Excellent communication (spoken and written) and ability to convey complex ideas simply.
- Bilingual: French and English.
- Extroverted, approachable, and people‑oriented personality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent numerical abilities and proven track record of working with tight deadlines.
- Independent thinker and enthusiastic team player.
