Hourly Pay Range:
$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Full time/Part time: Part Time, 20 hours/week
  • Hours: Days and Evenings. Afternoon, Evening, and every other Saturday availability preferred.

What you will do:
  • Conducting initial assessments to determine the recreational needs and preferences of patients.
  • Developing individualized recreational therapy plans based on assessment findings and treatment goals.
  • Organizing and leading therapeutic recreational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, music, and other engaging activities suitable for diverse patient populations.
  • Adapting activities to meet the unique needs and abilities of each patient, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience.
  • Encouraging active participation in recreational activities, fostering socialization, communication, and emotional expression among patients.
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their recreational therapy sessions.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation of patient progress, participation, and response to recreational therapy interventions.

What you will need:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreational Management required
  • License: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) designation by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) and Current Illinois state licensure as a Recreational Therapist required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in recreational therapy, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation setting preferred
