• Disciplinary and professional leadership of the department and its personnel
• Accountability for underwriting decisions and profit and loss (P&L) performance of HDI's global marine portfolio, including complex risk segments such as automotive, commodity, and project cargo accounts (“Global Risk”)
• Underwriting of new and existing customers as part of a co-underwriting process together with the worldwide HDI Global SE units
• Further development of the business strategy within the area of responsibility, e.g., underwriting policy and risk appetite
• Contribution to cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at establishing underwriting excellence in the marine line of business
• Global coordination of professional training and continuing education programs for marine underwriters, with a focus on complex risks

• Academic degree in business administration or law or equivalent professional experience
• Extensive experience in international underwriting of industrial risks in marine insurance
• Experience in a leadership position desirable
• Strong communication skills in conducting talks and negotiations
• Sociability and ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure even in time-critical situations
• Very good knowledge of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Business fluent in written and spoken German and English; other foreign languages are welcome
• Willingness to travel
