*Job Summary*
Urgent Pet Care of Savannah seeks a skilled and experienced veterinary technician or assistant to join our team. Availability to work weekend hours is required (Friday and/or Saturday). Part-time, full-time, and locus positions available. We are an open-minded, family-owned clinic providing high-quality afternoon, evening, and weekend medical and surgical veterinary care to the Savannah area. Ability to compassionately care and effectively communicate in a fast-paced, small-team setting is important! Quality patient, customer, and employee care are central to our values. *Duties*
* Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
* Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
* Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
* Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
* Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
* Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with staff and clients.
* Conduct routine animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
* Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines.
* Provide education and support to pet owners regarding animal care and training.
* Assist in procedures when necessary.
*Requirements*
* Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
* Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary medicine.
* Experience in animal restraint techniques for safe handling during examinations.
* Ability to operate X-ray machines and interpret results is a plus.
* Knowledge of dog training principles is beneficial but not mandatory.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
* A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential.
* Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) is preferred but not required.
