Location: North Calgary
Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

About Pleasant Heights After School (PHAS)
Pleasant Heights After School has been helping Calgary children play, learn, and grow since 1976. As one of the first before- and after-school care providers in northwest Calgary, PHAS now serves over 200 children across three community-based locations.
Our programs combine STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning with hands-on, play-based experiences that spark curiosity and confidence. Guided by Alberta's Flight framework, we create a warm, inclusive environment that helps children become strong, independent, life-long learners.
What We're Looking For
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3)
- Standard Child Care First Aid & CPR Certification
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Degree, Diploma or Certification in Early Childhood Education or a recognized equivalent is considered an asset
- Experience in a licensed childcare setting is preferred, and experience with school-aged children (5–12 years) is an asset
- Positive attitude, teamwork, and genuine passion for working with kids

What You'll Do as an Early Childhood Educator Level 1:
- Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs.
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, playing games, supervising non-structured play, assisting with field trip supervision, and preparing crafts.
- Utilize the Alberta Childcare Framework: Flight (training provided)
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for use.
- Assist with proper eating and hygiene habits.
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in cleaning the spaces.
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and concerns of children.
- May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
What You'll Do as an Early Childhood Educator Level 2/3:
- Develop, implement and carry out child-care programs.
- Plan STEAM-focused programs.
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1 educators to support program quality and team collaboration.
- May supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
- Organized, empathetic, and proactive with a high attention to detail.
