- Have well-developed interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
- Have intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Have knowledge of community agencies, services, resources and employers within the community
- Have facilitation skills
- Are bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken
- Have experience with CaMS (considered an asset)
- Have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
What you will do: The Employment Services Specialist supports the activities of the Job Skills Employment Programs and Services activities by:
- Developing and maintaining Better Jobs Ontario (BJO) Information Sessions content to ensure consistent and current information
- Delivering BJO Client Information Sessions multiple times weekly (virtual and in-person)
- Co-facilitating BJO drop-in sessions as needed
- Supporting maintenance of BJO eLearning for Service Provider staff
- Completing BJO eligibility and suitability assessments
- Assisting clients with application packages and supporting documentation
- Preparing BJO Application Recommendation and Checklist, Employment Action Plan (EAP) and rationale
- Supporting clients with application submissions
- Documenting rationale and outlining steps to improve eligibility for ineligible clients
- Tracking and monitoring client start and ends dates
- Producing and submitting monthly reports
- Maintaining EAP and client case notes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum education requirement is a Post-secondary education, preferably in career development, employment counseling, or social services and/or related experience
- 2-4 years' experience in the social service sector
