About the position:
Our team is growing RACKsteel is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Structural Drafting Coordinator to join our dynamic engineering department. This role involves preparing detailed structural drawings for warehouse racking systems, supporting our engineers & sales team through design, field installation, engineering and permitting phases.
You'll work closely with our Engineering Manager & sales while contributing to continuous improvement in our drafting standards and systems. We're looking for someone who can work independently, adapt quickly, and bring strong problem-solving skills to our collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- Diploma or certificate in CAD Technology, Drafting, or equivalent technical education
- Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel or steel detailing drafting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Autodesk 2023 or later preferred)
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and construction drawing review
- Experience managing drawing packages, revisions, and documentation
- Experience working with block-based workflows and creating custom attributes
- Experience using Annotative Scaling for text, dimensions, blocks & hatches
- Familiar with the use of link data for spreadsheet tables is an asset
- Knowledge and/or understanding of the use of plug-ins/add-ins for AutoCAD is an asset
- Knowledge of BC Building Code 2018 or 2024 (an asset)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative
- A growth mindset and willingness to continuously improve systems and processes
- Capable of working side by side with sales department to adjust drawings
- Knowledge of ASL is an asset
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, you will:
- Prepare clear, concise, accurate AutoCAD drawings to show elevations, building layouts, and other specs for warehouse racking designs
- Review and update drawings for accuracy and conformance to the engineer's design
- Prepare design documentation packages for engineering review and permitting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of project activities, demonstrating strong attention to detail while handling drafting and CAD files
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Examine drawings for conformity and errors
- Conduct site visits to take field measurements and verify existing conditions
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to adjust designs based on customer requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting templates, workflows, and system efficiency

- Location: RACKsteel office and occasional site visits (company vehicle provided)

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
