Part-Time Student Life Leaders – Boarding Supervision

Weekly Hours: 10-15 hours per week

(perfect for mature students or those not quite ready for retirement)

UNISUS School is seeking part-time Student Life Leaders to provide afternoon and evening supervision for boarding students. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in coaching, education, or youth work and who enjoy working with international students.

If you are a college/university student looking for experience working in a school setting or a retired teacher/caregiver who isn't ready to slow down completely, this could be a wonderful fit for you

Sample shift times are 4:30-10:30pm (Mon-Fri) and 10am - 5pm / 2pm - 10pm (weekends).

Key Responsibilities:

Boarding Supervision:

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of high school boarding students during evening and overnight shifts.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive environment within the boarding house.
  • Enforce school policies while fostering a strong sense of community.

Co-curricular and Enrichment Support:

  • Assist with after-school activities, including sports, clubs, and student life programs.
  • Support students' personal growth and leadership skills outside the classroom.

Weekend Supervision & Activities:

  • Supervise students during weekend activities and excursions.
  • Examples of excursions include skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, day trips to Kelowna and more.
  • Promote engagement in outdoor adventure programs and recreational activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience in youth work, coaching, education, recreation, or outdoor leadership (minimum 1-3 years).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and engage with students in a residential setting.
  • Willingness to actively support the vision, mission, and values of UNISUS School.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Mandatory criminal record check required for employment.
  • Preferred: Class 4 license (or willing to obtain), Standard First Aid, TESOL certification is considered an asset.
  • Applicants must have flexible availability that includes evenings and weekends.
