We're looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently at night. You'll help keep the resort secure, support guests with after-hours needs, and make sure the property is ready for the day ahead.
You'll be part of a team that values integrity, clear communication, and supporting one another across departments.
We are Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. Surrounded by old-growth forest and the wild Pacific, our team welcomes guests from around the world who come to experience this exceptional place.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Is dependable, observant, and stays calm under pressure
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Takes initiative and works well with minimal supervision
- Enjoys interacting with guests in a professional, friendly way
- Is comfortable working overnight and outdoors in a coastal environment
- Can handle walking patrols and physical tasks throughout an 8-hour shift
In this role, you will:
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of guest areas, public spaces, parking lots, and back-of-house areas
- Respond to noise concerns, guest issues, or security-related situations
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and building access points
- Write clear and accurate incident reports
- Support overnight guest service, including assisting Guest Services with late check-ins or inquiries
- Escort guests or staff upon request to ensure their safety
- Check that doors, windows, emergency exits, and restricted areas are secured
- Report maintenance or safety concerns such as leaks, damage, or lighting issues
- Assist with nightly lock-up procedures and occasional operational tasks
- Communicate with the morning and evening teams to ensure smooth handover
What you bring:
- Experience in security, hospitality, or customer service (preferred)
- First Aid Level 1 (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to stay composed in emergency or high-pressure situations
- Physical ability to carry out walking patrols and tasks across the property
- Reliability, good judgment, and a self-motivated work ethic
Working conditions:
- Overnight shifts, generally 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Indoor and outdoor work along a coastal shoreline
