Course Code and Title: CSCD71H3 - Topics in Computer Science

Course Description: A topic from computer science, selected by the instructor, will be covered. The exact topic will typically change from year to year. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction to compilers. Basic principles and major stages of compiling: lexical analysis; parsing; semantic analysis; memory model, runtime model, and code generation; introduction to code optimization. Use of common compiler-building tools. Course work includes implementing a compiler.

Lecture Section: LEC01: THUR 3-5pm.

Number of Positions (est.): One

Qualifications: Previous teaching experience as the instructor of a Computer Science course at the 4th-year university level or higher (required). NOTE: Rate of pay is $14,126.00 per half-course, higher than the posted amount.

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; submission of a deferred exam; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to course.

Estimated TA Support (Hours): 65 hours per tutorial.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 5 - April 30, 2026

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I $9,820.70; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term $11,030.36.
