Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Vision & Strategy
· Define and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap aligned with company strategy and customer needs.
· Translate market trends, regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, UL, ANSI, MID) and customer feedback into well-defined product goals.
· Represent the customer's voice and ensure product decisions align with both business objectives and user value.
· Balance technical feasibility, time-to-market, and business impact when defining product strategy.
· Identify emerging technologies relevant to metering and protection products.
Backlog & Requirement Management
· Own and manage the product backlog, creating detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and priority rankings.
· Collaborate closely with internal teams (e.g., Sales, R&D) to clarify requirements and ensure technical feasibility.
· Continuously refine backlog items based on changing priorities, feedback, and development progress.
· Ensure traceability between requirements, verification tests, and certification deliverables.
Development Oversight & Delivery
· Participate in product planning, execution of development activities, and periodic project reviews.
· Ensure timely delivery of features that meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
· Provide technical and functional guidance throughout the design, validation, and certification stages (e.g., accuracy class verification, EMC testing, environmental compliance).
Stakeholder Communication
· Act as the primary liaison between R&D, sales, and marketing to ensure all teams remain aligned on priorities and progress.
· Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding scope, timelines, and risks.
· Represent the voice of the customer in product design decisions and post-launch improvements.
Market and Competitive Analysis
· Conduct competitive benchmarking of products.
· Monitor industry standards, certification requirements, and emerging technologies in metering products.
· Provide input for new product opportunities based on technology evolution and market demand.
· Lead planning and successor product strategy.
· Ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance with health and safety laws and regulations.
· Follow all procedures in compliance of Accuenergy (Canada) Inc standard policy and operation regulations.
· Any other operation-related responsibilities may be added as company continues to grow.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.(Must)
· Experienced in Electric Equipment and monitoring experience and knowledge is a big asset.
· years of experience in product ownership, technical product management, or R&D within the electrical measurement or protection industry.
· Familiarity with electricity meters, protection relays, transformers (CT/VT), and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, IEC
· Technical & Professional Skills
Electrical Engineering Fundamentals:
· Strong understanding of AC/DC measurement principles, three-phase power systems, power factor, harmonics, and energy metering concepts.
Protection & Control Knowledge:
· Familiar with
protection relay
logic (overcurrent, ground fault, differential, residual current), trip coordination, and fault detection mechanisms.
Instrumentation & Sensor Integration:
· Experience with current transformers (CT), voltage transformers (VT/PT), Rogowski coils, Hall-effect sensors, and analog signal conditioning circuits.
Communication Protocols & Networking:
· Hands-on experience with Modbus (RTU/TCP), BACnet, DNP3, IEC 61850, and SNMP; understanding of Ethernet, RS-485, and CAN-based industrial networks.
Product Compliance & Certification:
· Familiarity with electrical safety, EMC, and metering accuracy standards such as IEC 61000, IEC 62053, IEC 61557, EN 50470, UL, and MID.
· Knowledge of test procedures for performance, insulation.
Agile & Product Management Tools:
· Proficiency with Jira, Notion, or similar tools for backlog tracking, sprint planning, and cross-team collaboration.
· Experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and managing product roadmaps.
· Documentation & Technical Writing:
· Strong ability to produce detailed technical documents that align with marketing and compliance needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
· Proven ability to coordinate between R&D, QA, Marketing, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure consistent communication and timely product delivery.
· Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking:
· Ability to identify technical risks, interpret test data, and propose design or process improvements based on customer or certification feedback.
Preferred (Optional)
· Familiarity with product certification processes (UL, MID, IEC).
· Experience with product validation, product development cycles, and cross-functional coordination.
