Technical Services Analyst
The Opportunity
Horizon School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Services Analyst to oversee and manage our technology team across multiple schools within the division. This leadership role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring the efficient operation of all IT systems, managing the technology budget, inventory supply management, and collaborating closely with the Superintendent of Operations/COO, as well as a team of network and application professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to our team of IT support technicians across multiple schools within the division
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the technology department, ensuring high levels of performance, security, and availability
- Manage and monitor the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and timely procurement of necessary supplies and equipment
- Collaborate closely with the Superintendent of Operations/COO and other senior leaders to develop and implement technology strategies aligned with the division's goals
- Coordinate with network and application professionals to ensure seamless integration and functionality of IT systems
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide training and development opportunities for team members, and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Stay updated on the latest technology trends and advancements to continually improve and modernize the division's IT infrastructure

Qualifications and Abilities
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Skilled at installing/configuring modern networking equipment such as switches, routers, and access points
- Ability to conduct research into security issues and emerging technologies as required
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Highly self-motivated and directed with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to apply and follow project management principles and tasks
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to do Medium Load Work which includes:
- exerting up to 50 lbs. of force seldom (lifting and/or carrying)
- exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally
- exerting up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to move objects
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Education and Experience
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or a related field
- A minimum of 5-7 years of equivalent work experience
- Previous experience working in a PreK-12 school division is an asset
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Azure/365, Google Workspace certifications are highly valued
- Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards
- Strong knowledge of modern network management and analysis tools
- Extensive experience with client/server and operating systems including Windows 10/11, macOS, and Linux
- Experience working in a multi-site-WAN environment, VPLS, MPLS, and associated technologies
- Hardware, software, and network troubleshooting experience
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, including but not limited to, Cisco Catalyst series switches, Meraki, Juniper, and Palo Alto devices
- Knowledge of cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws such as GDPR and CCPA
