Position Summary
Transporter, Linen, Support Services
Your goal in this position is to transport linen and carts to and from the various wards. You're able to work independently and as a team, you communicate effectively with colleagues, staff and residents, and provide excellent customer service. This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Delivers clean linen to nursing units, OR, CSS, Clinics, etc., and picks up soiled linen.
• Receives, stores, and distributes linen and uniforms from the Linen Room using the monitoring system.
• Picks up soiled linen bags with empty carts from units/departments and stores in the loading truck.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Labels clothing using labelling machine.
• Alterations on staff uniforms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Grade 12th or equivalent.
• Read, write and speak English.
• Demonstrate interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and to prioritize.
• Sewing experience necessary.
• Works safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

This is a Part Time Casual position with 4 and 8 hour shifts, All Shifts, Weekends shifts (SEIU only ) in the Linen, Support Services department.
