Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors' apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.
Program Manager, Volunteer & Services - Temporary Full-Time for about 18 months, with possibility of extension
Core Function:
In consultation with the Executive Director of Community & Professional Services Division, plans and develops new effective community programs that reflects the organization's vision and strategic direction and to explore funding resources to ensure the effective coordination and delivery of the programs. Plans, recruits and develops a pool of volunteers to support all the service departments of Yee Hong.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Community Development, Health Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum 3 years' experience in social services, supervisory experience an asset
3. Knowledge and experience in community support services, program planning and evaluation
4. Satisfactory Police Reference Check (with vulnerable sector screen) result
Language Requirement:
Good communication skills in English and Chinese
Responsibilities:
1. Works with Division Heads or their delegated staff to determine the need for volunteers to support the services of the Yee Hong Centre
2. Works out a plan to recruit and assess suitability of volunteers to develop a pool of volunteers to meet the need of the Centre
3. Plans and assists Departments in training and development of volunteers
4. Educates and works with staff of service departments in volunteer development and retention 5. Develops and maintains an accurate and effective Volunteer Information Management System
6. Plans and organizes annual corporate volunteer recognition
7. Maximizes government and non-government resources to develop new community programs
8. Assists in the development of internal budget for new programs and implements effective expenditure control system for these programs. Ensures efficient and responsible use of resources
9. Coaches, develops and evaluates staff to ensure they meet their required performance standard
10. Coordinate student placements across the division and maintain partnerships with educational institutions
11. Support divisional proposal and funding applications by providing program information and documentation as needed
12. Build and maintain networks with community support service organizations, government representatives, and local health professionals
13. Contribute to planning and implementing new or enhanced services that align with emerging community needs
14. Other duties as assigned
