À propos

Aviation will be electric

We believe that aviation will only be electric in the next decades, and we are fully committed to making this a reality, by building the first electric business aircraft using hydrogen propulsion to fly up to 800 NM, five times further than a battery-powered aircraft.

We deeply value caring for our team of Beyonders fostering a culture of trust and collaboration. We constantly aim to explore new horizons and continuously raise our standards, while maintaining a pragmatic mindset. Above all, we are all driven by one mission : Make possible, certifiable and profitable the first private aircraft designed for hydrogen-electric propulsion.

About the role

Part of the Powertrain Team working on the groundbreaking Hydrogen-Electric powertrain, as a Thermal Modeling Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge Thermal management systems that are not only efficient but also align with certification standards and market demands.

In details you will :

  • Develop and refine 0D and 1D transient and steady-state thermal and hydraulics system models for our fuel cell powertrain cooling systems, environmental control, and ice protection systems,
  • Create 0D and 1D models for the Ironbird thermal management system, managing both single and multi-phase flows to optimize performance and efficiency
  • Develop multi-physics models and derive 0D and 1D models from sophisticated 2D and 3D aerothermal simulations,
  • Define and manage interfaces with components and thermohydraulic systems, ensuring our thermal models are integrated into the overall powertrain architecture,
  • Work closely with engineers from control, aircraft, and powertrain departments to integrate thermal models into the broader system, ensuring alignment with aerodynamics and other critical factors,
  • Adapt and optimize thermal models to accommodate evolving requirements and innovations in powertrain architecture,
  • Provide ongoing support to the powertrain team, including training, troubleshooting, and upgrades,
  • Perform technical evaluations, trade studies, and derive requirements for specified systems, reviewing physical integration on the ground,
  • Support discussions with certification authorities (FAA Part 23 and EASA CS 23), ensuring our designs meet all regulatory standards,
  • Create technical documentation to support development and certification processes.

The objective for this role is to complete the modelization of the Thermal Management Systems.

About you
  • You have strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to accurately model components and thermal processes
  • You are proficient in using MATLAB, or other related tools like Simulink, Simscape, EchTherm, and CFD solvers such as Star-CCM+
  • You can seamlessly integrate thermal models into multidisciplinary models
  • You possess expertise in optimizing model performance and efficiency
  • You have great problem-solving, analysis, and synthesis skills to tackle complex issues and devise innovative solutions
  • You understand regulatory compliance (FAA Part 23 and EASA CS 23) to ensure all designs meet necessary standards
  • You are curious and committed to staying updated on the latest developments in the field.
  • You are autonomous, curious, and a good team player
  • You have an experience in a multi-cultural environment and understand international diversity (English is mandatory as it is our official work language)
