Overview
The linguist will be assisting key stakeholders to bring more rigor to human evals, guiding workflows from L0 to Expert. Working cross functionally with other specialists and use analysis to create process manuals, suggest process improvements and provide insights into model performance. The linguists will be responsible for designing evals as well as the measurements for success and failure of those evals. They will also conduct training across suppliers and run Q&A sessions with Product and Vendor teams.

This is a vendor role with Highspring for a client's team, a Fortune 100 company. This position is currently remote in the United States until further notice.

Minimum Qualifications

* Native or professional fluency in English

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field

* 1-2 years of experience in a related field

* Strong understanding of core linguistic concepts, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics

* Excellent communication skills (both written & oral), and ability to explain complex/technical concepts to a wider audience

Preferred Qualifications
* Proven experience in linguistic data annotation, transcription, or analysis

* Experience working on large-scale data projects in a technology or AI company

* Knowledge of a specific linguistic sub-field (e.g. sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, syntax).

* Experience with machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), or speech recognition technologies.

* PhD in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field

Schedule Requirements
* Weekday, fixed schedule in PST timezone (7 am to 5 pm range)

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure:
$70,000 - $75,000/annual salary
. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
