We are looking for a 

Tech Unit Lead – Collection (m/f/d)

(unlimited, full-time) to join our team at our Berlin, Baden-Baden and Verl locations to build the next generation of fintech.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Defining and owning the long-term technical and architectural vision for the Collection domain, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance in a highly regulated environment
  • Acting as a strategic thought partner to senior business and product leaders, shaping the roadmap for our collection systems to drive both customer-centricity and operational excellence while ensuring joint ownership and accountability for their collaborative success
  • Leading multiple cross-functional engineering teams, inspiring and empowering senior engineering leaders to deliver high-impact solutions
  • Taking full accountability for the end-to-end delivery, reliability and IT Security of collection-related platforms and services
  • Driving technical governance, Frontend and Backend modernization, best practices, and engineering standards across the unit
  • Managing the unit’s budget, investments, and vendor relationships to ensure sustainable growth and efficiency
  • Representing the Collection unit in company-wide technology leadership forums, contributing to enterprise architecture and aligning with group-wide objectives
  • Keeping a pulse on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously evolve our systems and maintain a competitive edge
  • Pushing the AI transformation within the Tech and Data function

What will help to succeed in the role:

  • Education: A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: Extensive experience in technology roles, ideally with a background in fintech, banking, or large-scale enterprise environments
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of tech architecture strategy, SDLC and modern engineering practices, paired with seasoned managerial/business acumen and excellent communication skills
  • Curiosity: Interest to acquire and deepen knowledge about collection processes, risk, compliance, and their technological implications
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading multiple teams or departments, driving architectural change, and delivering mission-critical systems while enabling a self-reliant leadership team through guidance and fostering a sense of ownership
  • Culture: Lead the way through empathy and recognition, a strategic mindset and the drive for excellence
  • Passion: Ensure continuity of success while questioning the status quo and exemplify an openness to change in a fast-paced environment
