Location: Nottingham City Start Date: ASAP Pay Rate: £25 – £26 per hour Pay Band: Band 6 Contract Type: Locum / Temporary Working Pattern: Full-Time (Part-Time Considered)

Job Description:

An excellent opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated Adult Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation team based in Nottingham City. This locum role offers the chance to work within a forward-thinking and supportive NHS team, delivering high-quality care to patients with a range of complex neurological conditions.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working in inpatient settings and be confident in independently managing a neuro rehab caseload. You’ll be a vital part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to effective care planning and supporting timely and safe discharges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adult inpatients with neurological conditions.

  • Manage a complex and varied caseload independently within an acute or rehab setting.

  • Work closely with the wider MDT to deliver coordinated and patient-centred care.

  • Participate actively in discharge planning, ensuring safe and timely transitions from hospital to home or onward care.

  • Identify and respond to patients who are acutely unwell or showing signs of deterioration.

  • Adapt and prioritise workload effectively in response to changing clinical needs throughout the day or week.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with professional and NHS documentation standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.

  • Previous NHS experience working in adult inpatient settings.

  • Strong background in neurological rehabilitation.

  • Able to work autonomously and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proven ability to identify clinical deterioration and escalate appropriately.

  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload flexibly and independently.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with stroke rehab, traumatic brain injury, or progressive neurological conditions.

  • Experience with NHS discharge planning processes and community referrals.

  • Proficient in using assessment tools such as MoCA, FIM, AMPS, or similar
