The purpose of the Bilingual Teacher is to provide academic instructional support to English Learners. S/he will develop and deliver lesson plans to groups and individual students utilizing academic development language standards.
*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
* Provide personalized academic and language instruction to English Learners in both English and the native language , sheltered instruction, English Language Development, and ESL strategies.
* Advocate for biliteracy and demonstrate a commitment to supporting students in their development of the language skills and subject matter
* Provide direct Bilingual and ESL services and instruction to identified students in push-in and pull-out instruction
* Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize appropriate instructional techniques that enable limited English proficient students to overcome barriers
* Adapt curriculum and provide tailored academic instruction in native language to English Learners as appropriate and in alignment with student goals and program mode
* Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address learning needs
* Obtains training for and assists with the administration of language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language proficiency (WIDA screenings and ACCESS testing)
* Maintains organized records of documentation regarding student achievement in core courses
* Collaborate and coordinate with staff to support students experiencing academic performance challenges related to English language learning
* Interprets student performance data and implements appropriate support structures
* Communicates and confers effectively both orally and in written form with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
* *Valid Illinois teaching certification PEL*
* *Valid Illinois bilingual education teacher certification* or Transitional Bilingual Educator's License k-12 or 6-12
* Bachelor's degree
*Desired Qualifications:*
* ESL endorsement
*Benefits:*
_Starting Salary: $55,000_
_Education: Plus $1,000 for master’s degree, $2,000 for doctorate degree._
_Experience: Plus $1,000/yr up to 10 years. (K-12 prof teaching) $250 for years 11-20_
