Job Description

Network Planning & Design:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the expansion and optimization of the core IP network.
  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure scalability and performance of the network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network plans with business objectives.
  • Design network architecture and topologies that meet the organization's business and technical requirements in terms of performance, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies of vendors and recommend solutions to enhance the network infrastructure.


Network Engineering:

  • Configure and deploy core IP network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls (particularly with CGNAT and IPSec functions), and other security devices.
  • Perform network upgrades and optimizations to support evolving business needs and enhance network security.
  • Integrate security solutions into the core network infrastructure to protect against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide technical expertise to resolve problems.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements like lawful interception or network security.


Network Operations:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the core IP network, including upgrades, integration of new network elements, monitoring, maintenance, and incident response.
  • Develop and implement procedures for network performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Contribute to the on-call team for the Core IP domain, on a weekly rotation with the team. Support is 24/7/365.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, DDOS protection systems, and secure access controls.


Security Management:

  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with the client's security team to ensure comprehensive protection against threats and to respond to security incidents.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IP networks with hands-on expertise and a focus on network security.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in network planning, design, and operations.
  • Strong understanding of IP networking principles, protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), and services.
  • Proficiency in network security technologies and practices, including firewalls, VPNs, CGNAT, and encryption.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Wireshark, Librenms, Grafana, Telegraph, Nagios).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Very good oral and written communication in English
