We Breathe Life Into Data

At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.

As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.

The Opportunity at Komodo Health:

The Product Incubation Team is accountable for defining, prototyping and validating product offerings that can establish and grow Komodo’s presence in its nascent market segments.

The full stack software engineers on the team play a crucial role in the design and implementation of the web-based applications that harness Komodo's healthcare data, integrating multiple APIs to search, retrieve, generate and/or visually analyze relevant insights across a myriad of use cases.

Their work is pivotal to delivering on prototypes that can be validated in one or more of Komodo’s nascent market segments with the ultimate goal of growing Komodo’s market share.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…

  • Developed web applications to render complex metrics in a clear and comprehensible manner
  • Designed front-end assets to maximize reuse and composability, while keeping code clean and effectively organized
  • Partnered with our Product Managers and wrote design documents to help explain tradeoffs between implementation choices.
  • Managed technical dependencies between different data and web assets to ensure smooth implementation and reliable operation
  • Collaborated with data scientists and product design to deliver analytic products and services
  • Have contributed to the creation and adoption of a design system.
  • Have designed and implemented metrics collection/monitoring that reports web applications health and customer behavior/adoption.
  • Have helped create performant CI/CD pipelines for web applications.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Continual contributions to the production codebase, including reviews of your colleagues’ code
  • Close partnership with Product Management and Data Science in defining and realizing the best features and achievable user experience
  • Participation in architecture decisions, continually evaluating new technologies and innovations that can be incorporated into our solutions
  • Collaboration with other Platform and Application Engineering teams when opportunities to jointly tackle problems arise
  • Documenting your work to a high-standard, and rigorously ensuring quality of everything that is released

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • Strong familiarity with design patterns and technical implementation details for RESTful, gPRC, and graphQL based services
  • Experience with API development for large data volumes, incorporating synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns and caching strategies (Elasticache, Redis or others)
  • Extensive experience developing frontend applications in React using Typescript or another standard frontend toolchain
  • Hands-on experience in building CI/CD pipelines using ESLint, ESBuild, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc. with advanced packaging techniques (JS bundle optimization, tree shaking, umd…) and deploying to CDN services
  • A strong collaborative mindset
