Job Overview
We're hiring a driven, hands-on Operations Management Business Partner (Training Program) to join our growing meat processing facility in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Whether you're a recent graduate or a motivated early-career professional, or seasoned professional in the food industry this role offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience and fast-track into a leadership role within the food production industry.
Responsibilities
About the Training Program
This is a 12-month paid rotational program designed to build your skills across:
1. Production Operations
- Learn line operations, labour coordination, and meat cutting to spec
- Maximize yields and line efficiencies
- Equipment knowledge and expertise
- Ensure safety compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations and internal protocols
- Lean operations – Just in Time (JIT): Producing only what's needed, when it's needed, in just the right quantity , which reduces overproduction, inventory, and lead times.
- Quality
2. Production Planning & Inventory
- Analyze production data, assist with scheduling and yield tracking
- Learn traceability systems and inventory control
- Crosstrain with planning and admin teams
3. Purchasing & Logistics
- Understand purchasing cycles for raw material, perishables and dry goods
- Work with shipping to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries
- Monitor inventory levels for raw, frozen, and finished goods
4. Leadership & Compliance
- Shadow supervisors and gain people management experience
- Support health & safety, food safety, and quality systems, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) (HACCP)
- Engage in continuous improvement projects
- Learn how to work within a unionized environment

Skills / Position Requirements
- Post Secondary Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Operations, Supply Chain, Food Science, or a related field
- Plant supervisory management experience of no less than 4 years considered an asset
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Knowledge of industry standards, equipment, and technical expertise
- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, yield management, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Computer literacy / Systems literacy of inventory/planning/scheduling software
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
- Robotics interest / background considered an asset or relevant
- Strong organizational skills and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Collaborative leadership and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking skills

Conditions of Employment:
- Salary Starting from: 50,000 per annum
- Full Time / Permanent Role
- 1st Year Training Program
- Comfortable working in a cool-temperature production environment
- Comfortable working around meat processing
- PPE required (steel toe CSA approved footwear, hair nets, beard nets, hard hats, smocks
- Early morning shifts flexibility for Stat Days/Weekends when business demands
- Monday to Friday / Tuesday to Saturday
