KUFPEC Canada Inc. (KCI) is the Canadian subsidiary of KUFPEC and manages a 30% interest in over 300,000 acres of Duvernay formation leases within the liquids-rich Kaybob area of Alberta, Canada, operated by Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL).
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Commercial & Planning this position represents KUFPEC Canada Inc. across a broad range of commercial and marketing matters to support the company's petroleum production in Canada.
The role requires a strong understanding of field production operations, facilities and infrastructure, and asset development planning into the future. The individual in this role manages all necessary gathering, processing, transportation, and fractionation contracts as well as coordination of commodity marketing and sales activities via KUFPEC marketing agents. Close communication and coordination with our Joint Venture Operators and 3rd Party service providers is essential.
The person in this position is expected to maintain contractual compliance, identify risks and recommend mitigations, analyze and report on commercial and market activities, and recommend improvements to existing arrangements.
This position works closely with Head Office's Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Operations Canada and Australia Region teams for information sharing, analysis, and decision approvals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Implement and administer all necessary contracts and amendments to support KUFPEC petroleum production, commodity sales, and Joint Venture commercial obligations.
· Implement and administer all necessary contracts and amendments to support KUFPEC commodity marketing activities, including but not limited to evaluation and selection of a marketing agent.
· Obtain internal and external approvals of all contracts and amendments working closely with KUFPEC Legal, Joint Venture partners, Operators, and 3rd Parties.
· Recommend, obtain internal approval, and submit to 3rd Parties by deadlines all required KUFPEC obligations under all contracts (e.g. annual nominations, capacity renewal options, etc.)
· Compliance monitoring of KUFPEC and the 3rd Parties to the agreements
· Approval and implementation of necessary amendments to existing agreements
· For contracts with capital models, provide quality check on the models and utilize them to support the appropriate capital fees.
· Work closely with Operations team and Business Analyst to create and support KUFPEC annual budget and Five-Year Plan including but not limited to:
• Input on facility and transportation capacities by product by asset/pipeline
• Input and understanding of operating costs and fees consistent with contracts and agreements
• Local commodity price forecasting
• Turnaround schedules
· Analyze current and reserved capacities against actual production and long-term production forecasts and make recommendation on capacity renewals, new requests, or cancellations.
· Coordinate KUFPEC approval of marketing agent strategies for all sales products.
· Coordinate KUFPEC approval of counterparties for all sales products.
· Support Finance department in onboarding with sales counterparties
· Create production forecasts for each sales point/product and submit it to the marketing agent according to contract deadlines.
· Report on actual pricing received compared to market pricing.
· Evaluate and provide forecast recommendation for sales product prices relative to internal Benchmark product price forecasts for use in Five Year Plan.
· Identify contractual, business, and market risks and recommend mitigations.
· Recommend improvements on existing arrangements and new opportunities.
· Administer effective filing and storage of copies of all commercial and marketing agreements entered into by KUFPEC in physical and/or electronic database.
· Support to Finance department providing endorsement of contract terms, fees, prices, and other details on accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices.
Education and Experience:
Required Academic Background:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with ability to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta.
Required Related Work Experience (Type and Years):
· Minimum 15 years direct experience in Alberta petroleum production operations including commercial contracts and marketing.
· Strong understanding natural gas, condensate, and natural gas liquids markets and practices in Alberta.
· Must have strong analytical skills and demonstrate ability with economic valuation methods, systems and models.
· Ability to work independently with minimum direction to support management across multiple activities in a dynamic, small office environment.
Preferred Training/Certifications (if any):
· Master's degree in Business Administration or certification as Chartered Financial Accountant is a benefit.
· Possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Preferred Work Experience:
· Ideally experience would have been developed across small and large scale oil and gas projects in a variety of countries internationally
· Possess strong communication and listening skills.
· Willingness to learn new skills and proven ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a small team.
