Job Overview Charter Communications is seeking a
Senior DevOps Engineer
to support the Identity portfolio team in Charlotte, NC. This role focuses on backend systems that enable secure access to customer portals and backend applications across multiple business lines. The ideal candidate brings a strong DevOps background with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, combined with backend Java development experience (Spring Boot, Microservices).
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and manage Kubernetes clusters from scratch to support scalable backend applications. Lead AWS migration initiatives from on-prem environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. Collaborate with backend development teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using Terraform. Develop and maintain backend APIs to support identity and authentication services for enterprise and customer-facing applications. Contribute to Identity and Access Management (IAM) and dual-factor authentication solutions, providing secure access across various Charter services. Partner with cross-functional teams (call centers, enterprise, and small business units) to deliver tailored identity services. Monitor system health, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize infrastructure performance.
Required Skills
Strong expertise in
AWS cloud migration
from on-premises environments. Hands-on experience with
Kubernetes
(building clusters from scratch). Proficiency with
Terraform
for infrastructure automation. Solid
Java backend development
background (Spring Boot, Microservices).
Preferred Skills
Experience with
Identity and Access Management (IAM) . Familiarity with
multi-factor authentication solutions . Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
