We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated *Pharmacy Manager in Training* to join our leadership development program and prepare to assume a *Pharmacy Manager* role within the organization.
*Position Summary*
The *Pharmacy Manager in Training* will work directly under senior pharmacy leadership to oversee daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop management-level skills in preparation for advancement. This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacist with deep operational knowledge and a passion for innovation in mail order and compounding pharmacy environments.
This position requires a pharmacist who is *licensed in at least 3–5 states* (with the willingness and ability to obtain more) and has a proven track record of leadership in *mail order, compounding, and cold chain* pharmacy operations.
*Responsibilities*
* Assist in managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, including order verification, workflow optimization, and regulatory compliance.
* Support leadership in maintaining URAC, NABP, and state board of pharmacy standards.
* Oversee and train staff in best practices for sterile and non-sterile compounding and mail-order fulfillment.
* Ensure compliance with USP , , and requirements.
* Monitor temperature-controlled (cold chain) storage, packaging, and shipping processes to maintain medication integrity.
* Collaborate with IT and operations teams to streamline workflow systems and ensure audit readiness.
* Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and continuous education.
* Serve as a key contact for multi-state regulatory inquiries, renewals, and licensing processes.
* Develop leadership and management skills in preparation for transition into a future Pharmacy Manager role.
* Oversee medication dispensing processes, including sterile and non-sterile compounding medications.
* Conduct patient assessments and provide clinical pharmacy services to optimize medication therapy management.
* Supervise pharmacy staff, including training and mentoring pharmacy technicians in best practices and aseptic techniques.
* Maintain accurate inventory management systems to ensure the availability of medications and supplies.
* Utilize pharmacy software, EMR systems, and EHR systems for efficient workflow management and documentation.
* Engage in continuous education to stay updated on advancements in pharmacotherapy, pediatrics, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology.
*Qualifications* *& Requirements*
* *Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)* from an accredited college of pharmacy (required).
* *Active pharmacist license* in *at least 3 – 5 U.S. states* (*Texas required*).
* *10+ years of progressive pharmacy experience*, including mail order, compounding, or specialty operations.
* Strong understanding of *cold chain logistics*, *compounding standards*, and *multi-state regulatory compliance*.
* Proven leadership ability, with experience managing or mentoring pharmacy staff preferred.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Working knowledge of pharmacy management systems and quality assurance processes.
* Strong clinical pharmacy experience with a focus on patient service and care is essential.
* Proficient in using pharmacy software systems and managing electronic health records (EHR). Best Rx is a *plus. *
*Preferred Experience*
* Previous leadership or management experience in a *mail order or compounding pharmacy* setting.
* Experience working within *URAC, ACHC, or NABP-accredited* environments.
* Familiarity with *pharmacy licensing and accreditation audits*.
