You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through healthcare innovation. You will lead the delivery of research projects that span from early exploratory programs to more formative studies across a variety of innovation initiatives for world-leading MedTech organizations. This role reports to the Director of Research and Strategy and collaborates with Research, Design and Development teams globally. As a Design Researcher (Level 2), you will be part of a cross-functional team that helps identify opportunities for innovation that meet user needs, mitigate risk, and delight clients. The researcher is responsible for understanding the user needs, pain points and current workflow/journey to ensure these are captured and communicated in an actionable format, and to help inform subsequent strategic decisions and product development. The ideal candidate should be an innovative, creative and well-organized self-starter, passionate for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to design research projects by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in human-centered design methodologies. What You Will Do Leads the creation and delivery of design research project work, under the guidance from project lead and functional manager. In this role you will have a strong understanding and experience with qualitative research and/or human centered design methodologies to be able to support conducting primary and secondary fieldwork. Support participant moderation and observations using methodologies including ethnography, contextual inquiry, formative and validation studies. Ability to draft research protocol materials including recruitment screeners, discussion guide materials, presentations and notetaking/debriefing templates. Assists with research analysis, synthesis and user need documentation, including personas, customer journey/workflow maps and storytelling methods. Conduct design research activities and present research updates/outputs to clients. Ability to support the project team’s goals. Ability to develop client presentations, capturing the design research process. Ability to work through tight deadlines by planning activities, setting expectations and pacing yourself to deliver within timeline and budget on projects. Supports the adoption, development and implementation of Research and Strategy best practice approaches. Interest in staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in human centered design methodologies. Apply to follow and implement company and industry policies and procedures to ensure the safe and ethical delivery of design research. Supports the engagement with our clinical observation site relationships and helps to expand our network globally. Work with Project Managers to help support clinician site observation recruitment. Assists managing the relationships with stakeholders across our clinical sites. Supports the creation and maintenance of clinical site engagement materials. Qualifications Required skills: BFA, BS, BA or BSID in Industrial Design, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, or related field. 2-4 years of experience in design research. Working knowledge of design research, qualitative research and/or human centered design methodologies. Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and white boarding apps like Miro. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. Preferred: Experience working in or with the healthcare industry, preferably medical device markets. Experience working as a consultant.
