About
*SUMMARY: *The Speech language Pathologist primary purpose is to plan, organize, develop, and direct our facility’s Speech therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *
· Responsible for evaluation and treatment of residents who demonstrate disorders of speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
· Ensure evaluation and treatment will be conducted after written order received from physician.
* Responsible for screening of residents of all facility. New residents within 24 hrs. Of admission; long term residents upon receipt of a significant change form or upon referral from nursing.
· Attending all required facility meeting and in services, including Medicare meeting, Patient staffing’s, family meeting and care plans.
· In cooperation with administrator to develop programs appropriate to the needs of the residents in the facility, to assist them in achieving their highest feasible level of functioning.
· Assist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state, federal, and other appropriate certification.
· Employ and follow all appropriate facility infection control policies and procedures and will respect, follow OBRA residents Rights Guidelines.
* Responsible for the appropriate scheduling of resident’s caseload in addition to all required in services and meetings.
· In communication with administrator if productivity levels consistently fall below or exceed the standard in to indicate the need for additional staffing or need for assistance in screening and identifying residents in need of PT services.
· Responsible for the scheduling and completing of in services for facility staff and education.
· Present self in professional manner at al times including professional conduct, communication and appropriate dress while in facility.
* Performs other duties as directed by administrator and facility.
*QUALIFICATIONS: *_To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required._
* Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathologist
* SNF experience (Preferred)
* State Licensure (Required)
* Asha Certification (Required)
* Ability to interact with various members of the health care team
* Ability to advocate for the patient/family
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Computer proficiency in e-mail, Microsoft suite application, windows environment, and the Internet
* Ability to work effectively with others to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 16 per week
