About

Join Our Creative Team as a Fabricator/Welder!

Are you a master of multi-process welding? Can you decipher complex CAD drawings? Do you have a keen understanding of material properties?

We invite you to become a vital part of our team in Stratford-upon-Avon, where the magic of stage sets and props comes to life! In this role, you will play a key part in delivering innovative, high-quality, and sustainable stage scenery for productions across RSC stages.

As a member of our theatre company, you will engage in a diverse range of creative fabrication work, supporting designers' visions for our artistic programme. Your craftsmanship will shine as you produce high-standard work from detailed drawings, ensuring that deadlines and requirements are met.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret technical drawings to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble set pieces using industrial machinery.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on tools and equipment.
  • Load scenic components into venues and secure them on stage.
  • Support team members in their development and upskilling.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and ARC welding techniques.
  • Experience in crafting curved architectural scenery.
  • Strong knowledge of materials such as mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and brass.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex CAD drawings, technical blueprints, and scale models.
  • A solid understanding of workshop health and safety, including safe and sustainable practices.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Scenic Workshops in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will work 44 hours per week, with occasional weekend and evening shifts required. During production weeks, hours will be flexible, often including evenings and weekends.

Application Process

Ready to take the next step? All applications should be submitted online through the RSC website. If you need assistance during the application process, we’re here to help!

Interviews will be conducted in two stages, in person at the workshops, scheduled for late March to early April.
