Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various settings, including long-term care, assisted living, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a genuine commitment to improving patient well-being. Experience with diverse patient populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly valued. The CNA will play a vital role in supporting medical staff by assisting with daily patient needs, documentation, and vital signs, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all patients.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for patients with Alzheimer's, dementia, memory care needs, or behavioral health conditions.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Document patient information thoroughly in medical records while maintaining confidentiality.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in settings like ICU, emergency medicine, post-acute care, or hospice to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Support infection control protocols and ensure adherence to safety standards in all patient interactions.
- Engage in ongoing training related to EMR/EHR systems and updates in medical terminology or physiology knowledge.
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification required; additional certifications such as BLS/CPR are preferred.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong background in geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, or specialty areas such as ICU, PICU, or emergency medicine is advantageous.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical documentation and HIPAA regulations essential.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting (Hoyer lift), moving patients safely, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients of all ages and collaborating effectively within healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices required.
- Must demonstrate compassion for patients with disabilities or complex health needs such as Alzheimer's disease or infectious diseases.
- Ability to work flexible hours in various settings including inpatient units or outpatient clinics; experience in urgent care or home & community care is a plus.
