About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Manager to lead product direction, requirements analysis, development, delivery and rollout of next-generation systems for branches of the United States Military and US Military Veterans. In this role, you will be responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders – potentially directly with military or government stakeholders – to scope requirements, manage cross-functional communication, and ensure operational excellence in delivery and operation of these mission-critical solutions.

The role reports to the Chief Product Officer. Technical teams are distributed throughout the US and potentially in other locations.

Key Responsibilities

Product Leadership

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining product backlogs and priorities.
  • Translate strategic objectives and end-user needs into system requirements and implementation roadmaps.
  • Enable cross-functional technical teams to meet the requirements through structured software delivery milestones.
  • Lead a small team of other product managers or business analysts, if and as needed.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, program offices, system integrators and others.
  • Conduct recurring product reviews and product status updates for a variety of audiences.
  • Align requirements delivery and product features to user needs, with an understanding of contractual performance metrics, compliance requirements and other constraints.

Systems Development Guidance

  • Scope and validate requirements for various features and integrations (e.g., applicant tracking, identity verification, onboarding workflows) with the support of Product and Engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with other product managers, Engineering and Design to ensure user-centric, secure, and scalable platform delivery.
  • Influence project parameters such as timelines, budgets, risk mitigation, and change management in relation to delivering working software.

Implementation & Operations

  • Lead pilot programs, phased rollouts, and post-deployment evaluation cycles as needed.
  • Ensure system interoperability with required IT environments and databases.
  • Support training and initial user adoption.
  • Prioritize enhancements and other updates to optimize system performance

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of experience in product management.
  • Proven success delivering enterprise software or systems integration projects at an enterprise level. U.S. military or federal agency work is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise workflow and case management-centric systems such as recruiting operations, talent acquisition systems and other systems with structured data processing and lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant product management training or certifications.
  • Experience as a product owner / product manager in agile software development processes.
  • Understanding of or working knowledge of federal, defense, and/or government or other regulated technology environments.
  • Prior US Military service or work with the Department of War or other US Government entities is a plus.
  • Technical background in systems engineering, product management, or data integration.
  • Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States
