Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be at the forefront of delivering authentic, high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine to our guests. Your expertise in food preparation, knife skills, and food safety will ensure each dish is crafted with precision and care. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas
  • Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood, rice, vegetables, and other supplies
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items that excite diners and reflect current food trends
  • Execute food preparation tasks including slicing fish with knife skills, cooking rice to perfection, and assembling visually appealing plates
  • Uphold quality control standards by monitoring presentation, taste, and portion sizes of all dishes served
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, food handling procedures, and safety protocols

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant or fine dining setting
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi preparation techniques, and food industry best practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency in food handling, knife skills, meal preparation, and catering services
  • Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus for understanding special dietary needs
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments such as restaurants or catering events is highly valued
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and proper sanitation procedures within the culinary industry
  • Prior kitchen experience involving food service operations, menu planning, and food preparation enhances your suitability for this role
