The Prep Cook supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, assisting with meal production, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This role ensures that residents receive nutritious, appealing, and high-quality meals while following food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and measuring seasonings.
- Assist cooks and chefs with meal preparation according to menus and resident dietary needs.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, prep stations, and storage areas.
- Properly label, date, and store food items in compliance with safety regulations.
- Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables.
- Assist with dishwashing and cleaning tasks as needed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, food handling, and sanitation guidelines.
- Support the dietary team with special requests and resident needs.
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred (healthcare or hospitality a plus).
- Must have a food handlers card
- must also have an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
