Responsibilities
Undertake a variety of client projects, working in multi-disciplinary agile teams to ensure solutions meet business needs and support data-driven decision‑making.
Engage with technical and business stakeholders to capture requirements and act as the bridge between clients and technical teams, translating business problems and user needs into actionable solutions.
Develop a strong understanding of the business context and processes impacting a product or service, selecting best‑practice approaches to drive value for users.
Proactively contribute to the wider business analysis community within Butterfly Data, coaching junior staff and setting standards for how we do business analysis.
Work a hybrid pattern from our Cardiff or Manchester office, or work fully remotely. Occasional travel for the role is expected.
Requirements
You should be inquisitive and logical with the ability to overcome and solve complex problems.
You need to be self‑motivated, organised, thorough and professional.
You are someone who can build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
You must be confident and able to communicate effectively, being able to communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical staff.
You should be able to work independently, take responsibility and use your initiative.
Have lived in the UK for 5+ years as this is an essential requirement for obtaining UK Security Clearance via UK Security Vetting.
Essential Skills & Experience
Fluent English, UK resident for a minimum of 5 years, with the right to work in the UK.
Experience applying business analysis methods, such as requirements elicitation, process mapping (e.g. BPMN), user stories etc.
Understanding of how to analyse data and assess metrics to support business cases, validate assumptions, and inform decision‑making.
Excellent people, stakeholder, and communication skills.
3+ years experience in business analysis; more experience expected for a Principal Consultant level.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working as a business analyst in an IT, technology or data setting.
Experience working as a business analyst in a public sector setting.
Familiarity with Agile ways of working (Scrum, SAFe, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP) and / or data visualisation tools (e.g Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics etc).
Relevant business analyst qualifications, e.g. BCS, IIBA etc.
Butterfly Data is hiring a Business Analyst to join our consulting team. Depending on experience, the role could be Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant. The position can be remote or based out of our Cardiff or Manchester offices.

Interview Process
First round will be remote. Subsequent rounds (second and third) may be in‑person.
Screening interview with the HR team to assess suitability.
Second‑round interview with two members of our consultancy team to discuss relevant skills and experience.
Final round interview with a senior member of the team, where you will deliver a presentation explaining a project you have been involved with.
