What the job involves We’re seeking a Website Content Officer to join our Integrated Marketing and Media team. In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing and improving the content on our website, making sure it’s clear, accessible and meets the needs of our diverse audience.
Acting as the ‘voice of the user’, you’ll be responsible for publishing updates via our content management system (CMS), maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and accessibility across the site. You’ll oversee key areas, including the homepage, keeping information accurate, up to date, and easy to navigate.
You’ll work closely with teams across the Prostate Cancer UK to help shape their messages for the web, offering advice, guidance, and training where needed. Day to day, you’ll manage content schedules, review pages to identify improvements, and create or edit content to keep the site fresh and effective. You’ll also use digital analytics tools to monitor performance and suggest ways we can enhance the user experience.
As part of the Digital Marketing and Channels team, you’ll work closely with our email and social media teams to ensure our owned channels are aligned. You’ll lead on the delivery of our regular ‘News and Views’ articles in conjunction with our Strategic Communications team, and you’ll work closely with our Web Operations team to help identify and test new website features and fix technical issues.
Please note internally this role is known as Digital Channels Officer – Web.
What we want from you We’re looking for someone with solid experience in writing, editing, and proofreading web content to serve a specific audience. You'll be skilled in using content management systems (ideally Umbraco) to build and update web pages.
You’ll have the technical skills to author and edit basic HTML, as well as prepare and edit images for the web. A good understanding of interpreting website analytics, including experience with Google Analytics and search engine optimisation techniques, is essential. You’ll be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex analytics and technical details clearly and accessibly to colleagues who may not have a technical background.
In this role, you’ll need to manage priorities effectively and work well under tight deadlines. You’ll be confident negotiating and handling challenging conversations when necessary. Staying up to date with current web tools and digital content trends will be a real advantage as we continually improve our site.

This role is in salary Band 2B. We’ll appoint at a salary between £28,000 to £30,450 per year. We aim to pay the median salary for the sector and after 12 months’ successful service all colleagues are moved to the midpoint of the pay band. Those appointed below the midpoint will have their salary increased at that time. The midpoint salary for this role is £32,900.
We operate national salaries that account for our contractual base being our London office. We also pay a working from home allowance at the HMRC tax free rate of £312 per year.
We’re committed to paying at least the London Living Wage for all roles and implement the new rate from April each year.

How and where we work Our hybrid working approach is based on guiding principles and combines choice around where you work effectively most of the time with clear expectations on connection time, usually at our London Bridge office (SE1 2QN).
We are all expected to be in the office at least
4 days a month
(pro-rata for part time colleagues). This helps build connections, strengthen relationships and ensures effective teamwork. We welcome more frequent office time if preferred. Office time is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs to and from the office and other London locations.
We trust our colleagues to work in this way with flexibility to juggle personal commitments with work. We aim to balance the needs of individuals, teams and the charity.
For this role we expect the successful candidate to be coming into the London office at least four times a month. There will be some additional in‑person attendance for training and induction in your first few months to help you get to know your new role and colleagues.
