Throughout the programme you will:
work on exciting projects that build a wide range of technical and professional skills;
participate in rotational placements across key business areas;
contribute to a social value project and volunteering events;
gain experience in multiple niche engineering disciplines.
Purpose of the Role
As a graduate engineer you will work in a small specialist team undertaking design work for large engineering projects.
You will work for a senior or principal engineer, producing calculations, drawings and technical reports, undertaking surveys and assessments, and researching new engineering techniques and practices.
During the first year you will experience several technical disciplines; in the second year you can choose two areas to deepen your expertise in line with your career plan.
Attend internal and client meetings, and do site and factory visits as required.
Support the wider team by organising extra‑curricular activities, leading social events, and engaging with industry through knowledge‑sharing forums, technical lectures and presentations.
Use discipline‑specific software such as TEDD’s and Masterseries to carry out your role.
Additional Responsibilities as an NG Bailey Graduate
Deliver work on time, to high standards and accuracy, and perform self‑checks and peer checks where required.
Maintain professional language and accurate grammar in all written forms, from emails to drawings, reports, memos, method statements and calculations.
Manage your own time, recording hours on a weekly timesheet and submitting it for approval on schedule.
Represent the company and conduct yourself professionally to build and promote Freedom’s image and reputation.
Identify and drive improvements where possible.
Manage your career progression and work toward professional accreditation in your chosen discipline.
Develop your professional network to support your role and development.
Build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Keep a log of activities and learning for each rotation to inform further development.
Opportunity to work across wider departments within the Services Division (e.g., Commercial, Business Development, Finance, Bid) if beneficial.
Requirements
2:2 Degree or above in Civil / Structural Engineering.
GCSE English & Maths Grade 4 or equivalent/above.
IT Literate – Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel), PDF editors and AutoCAD drawing software.
