Jing Wang Law Professional Corporation is a dynamic law firm located at Woodbine Avenue and Steeles Avenue in Markham. We are expanding and currently seeking a motivated and growth-oriented Legal Assistant / Law Clerk to join our team. Responsibilities:
- Manage files from intake to settlememnt.
- Communicate with clients, insurers, medical institutions, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders, while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Prepare, draft, and review a wide range of legal correspondence and documents, including but not limited to: OCF forms, LAT applications, Case Conference Summaries, motion records, Statements of Claim, pleadings, mediation and pre-trial briefs, affidavits of documents, and other required materials.
- Coordinate and prepare for examinations for discovery, case conferences, mediations, pre-trials, motions, hearings at the LAT, and other legal proceedings.
- Request and follow up on productions from medical providers, employers, insurers, government agencies, and other third parties within required deadlines.
- Assist with Family Law matters, including preparing court forms, organizing financial disclosure, scheduling court dates, drafting correspondence, and assembling materials for motions, conferences, and other court procedures.
- Perform additional administrative or legal support tasks as required to support the effective operation of the firm.
Qualification:
- Master’s degree is required.
- Minimum of 18 months of experience in Accident Benefits and Tort litigation, including working knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) and the LAT process.
- Demonstrated experience in Family Law, including familiarity with court forms, disclosure processes, and procedural requirements.
- Solid understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant legal processes.
- Strong technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office and legal practice management tools.
- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, while managing responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Employment Type & Compensation:
- Full-time, Permanent
- $37.00 an hour
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week
