Senior Business Intelligence Analyst
C.H. Robinson is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Intermodal (IMDL) Advanced Analytics team. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will leverage business and technical knowledge to develop new and innovative analytical solutions in the form of applications, reporting, dashboards, and implementing other processes/tools. This role blends technical expertise, analytical rigor and business acumen to deliver insights, uncover trends, and guide data-driven strategies across the organization. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will ensure data integrity and usability, while transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive strategic and operational decisions across the organization. This role will be accountable for product prototyping, using the Agile process to create applications which serve a research and development purpose. Additionally, this role will use established best practices to verify insights for leadership and will conduct exploratory work pertaining to upcoming and/or ongoing product development. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will act as a mentor to team members and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for IMDL stakeholders and other individuals within the organization, providing valuable insights and analysis. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will work collaboratively with Data Science and other individuals within the enterprise to scale Intermodal Advanced Analytics by utilizing and integrating into organizational tools and technology. This role can be based only in Chicago, Minnesota or Kansas City Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Leverage internal and external data sources to uncover business opportunities, emerging risks, and performance trends that shape strategic priorities. Apply statistical techniques and business logic to translate complex data into clear insights that drive confident, data-informed decisions. Communicate findings through concise, narrative-driven storytelling tailored to executive and operational audiences. Architect and maintain dynamic dashboards, KPIs, and self-service analytics tools using platforms like Power BI or Tableau. Partner with data engineers to optimize data pipelines, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and seamless data integration. Continuously improve reporting frameworks to support evolving business strategies. Data profiling, exploratory work, prototyping, visual development, initial data structuring Builds initial application prototypes rapidly and accurately Adapts applications based on feedback Domain buildout, validation, and rework Updates and maintains standard library of visualization packages and reporting for future prototyping Using agile processes, takes in reviewed work through work management tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, ZenHub or Azure DevOps (ADO) boards Maintain current portfolio of dashboard and reporting utilizing current organizational tools Presents and delivers analytical value through business intelligence and collaboration Networks by building relationships and consulting to bring solutions to life Collaborates with internal analytical teams to develop predictive solutions in tandem Act as a liaison between analytics, technology, and business units to translate data needs into technical solutions. Support change management efforts by training users on new BI tools and data literacy. Uphold data integrity by implementing validation protocols and conducting regular audits. Contribute to the development of data standards, documentation, and metadata management. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure alignment with compliance and privacy standards. Required Qualifications:
5+years of previous analytics experience developing business solutions using comprehensive, robust data assets Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases like Postgres. Basic to Intermediate Statistical knowledge (regression, clustering, decision trees, etc.) Demonstrated advanced ability to work with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Advanced Proficiency with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS). Proficiency with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analysis. Understanding of data governance, data modeling, and ETL processes. Experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation industries. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable integrating generative AI tools into analytical workflows. Compensation Range
$77,000.00 - $173,600.00 The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
