Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic

Location: Hwy 27 / Steeles Ave W
Compensation: $25-$30 (Depending on experience)

Job Description

The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This includes working on trucks, skid steers, snowplows, salters, snow blowers, and other heavy or light-duty equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Service engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and body repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and parts inventory.
  • Working nights and weekend shifts when required.
  • Follow safety procedures and comply with all applicable regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 2โ€“3 years of experience in mechanical repair of heavy equipment, diesel engines, or snow removal machinery.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and diesel/gasoline engines.
  • Experience with snowplows, loaders, graders, or similar equipment.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic software.
  • Welding and fabrication skills a plus.

Other Requirements:

ยท Valid "G" Driver's license

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, often in cold, snowy, or icy conditions (during winter storms).
  • May require shift work, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays during snow events.
