Water Design & Build Director, UK&I – AECOM We’re seeking a Water Design & Build Director to lead the growth of our work with Design and Build contractors in the Water sector. This role reports directly to the Managing Director of Water and forms part of the Water UK&I leadership team, driving strategy and expansion in the UK and Ireland market.

Responsibilities
Report directly to the Managing Director of Water and collaborate closely with Business Directors and global teams.
Lead the development and implementation of a contractor‑led market growth plan aligned with the Water UK&I Strategic Plan.
Work with Client Account Managers to identify, monitor and track new opportunities and enter business planning systems proactively.
Increase visibility of AECOM Water’s contractor-driven capabilities through clear internal and external messaging.
Build partnerships with contractors and designers to pursue high‑value opportunities.
Drive client satisfaction via engagement, performance monitoring and improvement actions informed by Net Promoter Score feedback.
Champion an inclusive culture that reflects AECOM's values and continuous employee development.
Oversee medium‑ and long‑term resource needs and recruit for strategic and senior roles.
Collaborate with global teams to deliver multidisciplinary projects and programmes.
Hold accountability for major contractor‑led projects and programmes through bid governance and the Go/No‑Go process.
Lead SH&E culture, implement policies, and achieve core SH&E metrics for the Water business.
Qualifications
Senior leadership experience within a matrixed multinational consulting firm, contractor or key water‑sector supplier.
Proven success building and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong knowledge of the UK & Ireland water markets, key contractors and European drivers.
Demonstrated growth‑focused leadership, talent development and coaching.
Extensive commercial and contract management expertise.
Track record of securing major frameworks, winning new opportunities and expanding existing contracts.
Strong client relationship management capabilities.
Detail‑oriented with experience delivering health & safety initiatives.
Capable of motivating and managing diverse multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexible, proactive and adaptable approach.
