Scope
Are you passionate about guitar and ukulele performance and enjoy teaching a variety of ages? Join the City of Surrey¿s Culture division and contribute to the growth and innovation of our arts community through development and instruction of performing arts courses and camps. The City of Surrey is looking for an enthusiastic and creative guitar and ukulele instructor at Clayton Community Centre to instruct private lessons in the community. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging performing arts professional.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Instructor lessons for a variety of ages and abilities, including preschool, children, youth, adults, and seniors.
Deliver course content that fosters skill building and individual expression.
Facilitate developmentally appropriate piano classes that are engaging and accessible.
Submit detailed lesson plans and supply lists for each program.
Independently set up, take down, and maintain program space.
Provide a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Required skills include:
Able to assess age appropriateness of lessons and materials.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and relational skills with participants and staff.
Effective problem-solving skills.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Experience with private music instruction.
Qualifications
We're looking for dynamic, creative leaders with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the performing arts. Our ideal candidates are effective communicators with strong classroom management skills.
The successful candidate must have:
A degree/diploma in Music performance or a related field.
Certified RCM Instructor, having completed minimum Level 10 RCM education.
A current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C certificate.
A minimum of 2 years previous teaching experience, as well as a thorough understanding of music pedagogy.
A Valid BC Driver's License is an asset.

Hourly Rate: $35.48
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
