About
As a
Senior Quantum Design Engineer , you will drive the design of silicon spin qubit-based QPUs with integrated control and readout. You will play a key role in establishing robust, industry-standard design methodologies while ensuring seamless integration across quantum devices, control electronics, and system architecture. Collaboration with diverse experts across quantum device physics IC design, cryogenics, process integration, and system integration is essential as you tapeout devices ranging from proof-of-concept test vehicles to large-scale, highly manufacturable quantum processors. Contribute to the design of QPUs and 3D integrated systems - including layout, simulation, and verification - from concept definition to tapeout. Implement fully verified (e.g., DRC, LVS), detailed chip and mask layouts for tapeout on schedule. Perform EM simulations and develop models for processor components. Develop hardware design methodologies, infrastructure, and PDK to align with industry-standard engineering practices, such as PCells, and automated layout and verification. Collaborate with fellow designers and integrators to optimise device manufacturability. Collaborate with experimentalists to correlate experimental data to models. Communicate effectively across diverse expertise, ensuring shared understanding and smooth project execution. Provide and maintain tapeout schedule. Document work and perform design reviews. Experience - Essentials
Master's degree in engineering or related field with 3+ years industry experience Demonstrated layout experience in sub-micron processes with preferably Virtuoso XL (L and KLayout considered) Proficiency in DRC & LVS with Calibre or similar Demonstrated EM simulation experience (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST) Experience coding automated design tools using preferably SKILL, or Python Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high-level of self-management and self-motivation Proven ability to work across diverse technical teams. Experience - Desirable
Experience with quantum device design and/or experimental experience with qubits Experience with flip-chip and/or 3D integrated design and layout Knowledge of nanofabrication, e-beam lithography, and/or advanced packaging Knowledge of layout-dependent effects Understanding of RF testing Familiarity with cryogenic electronics Benefits
