Make a difference.
As a Sales Engineer - Industrial Automation, you will support the sales of high‑tech automation and control products and work with branch personnel to identify opportunities for products to satisfy customer needs.
In this role you will:
Specify products to meet customer requirements and needs
Recommend inventory of automation products
Inform sales staff and customers of new developments in automation and related product technology
Provide technical services to customers for the operation and maintenance of automation equipment
Provide technical support of automation and control products to customers and company personnel and new product updates
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 1 year of experience required in progressively more responsible sales, marketing, and/or field experience
2 year degree required, Technical college or equivalent
6+ years experience preferred
Knowledge of high‑tech automation and control products
Knowledge of engineering principles related to customer automation products
Knowledge of suppliers’ automation products
Oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal, organizational and team building skillsAbility to work effectively with management and evaluate customer needs
Ability to clearly present complex solutions to non‑technical staff
Ability to make oral and written presentations to internal and external contacts
Extensive travel required
Compensation Details The expected rate of pay for this position is $90,000.00 - $109,000.00 annually, depending on experience. This role is also incentive‑eligible, based on meeting specific and relative business metrics.
This role requires the use of your personal vehicle for business purposes. Graybar offers a Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) reimbursement program to support eligible drivers. This program allows you to choose and drive your own vehicle, rather than a company‑assigned car, and your reimbursements can help you build equity in your vehicle over time. Please note that certain vehicle requirements, such as age and original MSRP, may impact your eligibility for tax‑free reimbursement. More information about Graybar’s FAVR reimbursement program will be shared upon hire.
