Ava Health is the only duly licensed, full behavioral health continuum on Colorado's Western Slope. We have programs yet to launch, including residential treatment for substance use disorder, primary mental health residential care, sub-acute mental health stabilization and medical detox.
This role will be part of building the referral infrastructure that supports the opening of those programs in addition to our current continuum. You are not walking into something finished. You are walking into something being built.
The trajectory of this role is not a ceiling it's a ladder. We are building regional infrastructure across Western Colorado. We will expand significantly within Colorado and eventually out of state. And our long-term commitment is growth without ever taking outside investment. This role is the first of its kind at Ava.
Where you take this whether that's leading a regional sales team, owning an entire state, or running all of business development as the company grows is entirely up to you.

This is a revenue-generating role. The metric that matters is length of stay driven by your referral relationships not calls, not activities, not pipeline volume. The quality of your referral relationships that ensure the right people pick up the phone, enter the program, and successfully thrive through every applicable level of care.
We are not hiring someone to manage. We are hiring someone to move with agency and autonomy - with a full team and incredible support behind them.
You are joining a team. What that means practically:
- Roman, our Community Engagement Architect, owns content, local and regional community presence, and alumni engagement (Ava Always). His work creates the stage.
- Gie, our Growth Operations Coordinator, handles the administrative and operational side of business development so you are not buried in logistics.
- Christopher, our CEO owns government, political, and strategic institutional relationships. Also, he has almost twenty years of relationships within the treatment industry coast to coast which can be leveraged.
- Your lane is direct referral pipelines.
- Our podcast studio, event space, and events team are at your disposal. If a referral relationship needs a platform, an event, or a content moment to move forward you have the tools to build it.
- Our clinical, admissions, and outcomes data are available to support your conversations. You are not selling on faith.
- You report to the CEO directly. No layers. No translation. If something is blocking you, it gets solved fast.
This role is responsible for building long-term referral pipeline - not transactional placements - across:
- Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
- Interventionists, therapeutic consultants and educational consultants
- Employers and HR directors regional and multi-state
- Independent therapists and psychiatrists
- Group practices and outpatient behavioral health providers
- Treatment centers seeking step-up or step-down placement partners
- Behavioral health admissions and discharge contacts within your existing network
What we require:
We are not training someone into this market. We need someone already inside it.
- Our preferred representative lives on the Front Range of Colorado.
- An existing book of business active relationships you can activate immediately across EAPs, employers, group practices, interventionists, educational consultants, therapeutic consultants, treatment centers, and/or BD networks in behavioral health
- Direct behavioral health experience you understand the clinical landscape, the referral process, and the vocabulary of the industry
- A track record of revenue generation tied to relationship development not activity metrics
- Willingness and ability to travel between Grand Junction, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Albuquerque this is a regional role with defined geography
- Geographic positioning that allows easy commute to both Grand Junction and the Western Slope. We do not need coverage in Grand Junction; we need someone who can work their existing market and travel to us.

You also understand, deeply, that success here is a team effort and failure here is a team failure. This is not a lone-wolf role. It is an autonomous role inside a highly collaborative team. Those are not contradictions. If you've never been able to hold both at once, this is not the right fit.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Relationships already established in the Denver metro, along the Front Range, and regionally relevant pockets of Colorado that you can bring to this role immediately
- Experience working across diverse payer types Medicaid, commercial in and out of network, self-pay
- Comfort with data using outcomes, access metrics, and utilization trends to support referral conversations
- A reputation in your market that precedes you
Compensation & Structure:
- Total first-year compensation: up to $130,000 - commensurate with experience and existing book of business
- Full benefits package (Health, Dental, Life, 401k)
- Reports directly to the CEO
- Growth trajectory: this is the first role of its kind at Ava. There will not be another hire like this. Where it goes regional director, state lead, head of all business development is determined by performance and ambition.
