About the Role As a Lead Business Analyst in Data Operations, you will manage the full lifecycle of data‑annotation projects to support Matterport’s AI and computer‑vision models. You will collaborate with product managers and machine‑learning engineers to design annotation workflows, oversee internal and external teams, and ensure high‑quality, scalable datasets for production pipelines.
What You Will Do
Own the data annotation lifecycle: plan, execute, and deliver projects to defined quality standards.
Define ontologies and standards in partnership with product and engineering, translating model requirements into clear annotation schemas.
Design and launch annotation projects: sample datasets, create detailed guidelines, and implement QA processes.
Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and cost‑effective delivery.
Collaborate with ML engineers to ingest annotated data, review outcomes, and drive continuous improvements.
Develop workflows, tools, and best practices for large‑scale annotation, leveraging automation where possible.
Influence Matterport’s data strategy and contribute to building world‑class AI models for spatial computing.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not‑for‑profit institution.
Minimum of 3 years experience in data operations, annotation management, or technical business analysis.
Strong understanding of data structures, ontologies, and annotation workflows.
Excellent organizational and project‑management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Familiarity with machine‑learning concepts and data requirements for model training.
Experience working with external vendors and managing cross‑functional teams.
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and project‑management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in computer vision or ML‑driven products.
Knowledge of annotation tools such as Dataloop, Hasty, Scale.ai, and Deeplake.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration and automation tools.
Strong analytical skills and ability to translate technical requirements into operational plans.
Demonstrated ability to scale processes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job pays an annual OTE of $149,000 – $189,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
Location & Work Arrangement Sunnyvale, CA – 4 days on‑site and 1 day remote work per week.
