About Helix Linear Helix Linear Technologies designs and manufactures high-precision motion control systems for industries where performance matters most, including aerospace, medical devices, defense, and advanced automation. Our products power mission‑critical applications where reliability and precision down to ±0.0001 inches make all the difference.
Our vision is to engineer what's possible in motion, with precision, integrity, and purpose. We pursue that vision by designing, machining, grinding, and assembling critical motion components in‑house, including precision ball screws and linear systems. Our clean, climate‑controlled facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing equipment including Citizen Swiss lathes, multi‑axis CNC mills, precision grinders, and specialized assembly and test systems.
Helix is growing and investing in new equipment, advanced processes, and the systems required to scale with discipline. As we expand, we're building a world‑class precision manufacturing operation, which means higher standards for ownership, communication, urgency, and accountability across every role on the floor.
About the Position Reporting to the Director Engineering, you’ll join a growing team as Drafter and own the creation and management of detailed engineering drawings and documentation for precision linear motion components, working directly with engineers to translate design intent into production‑ready prints.
You’ll sit at the intersection of Engineering and Manufacturing, ensuring what's designed can actually be built. That means tight collaboration with the engineering team and daily interface with shop floor personnel. This is a hands‑on drafting role with room to support design work as your knowledge of our products and processes deepens.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D drawings for precision components, assemblies, and custom motion systems using SolidWorks
Apply GD&T correctly and consistently across all documentation
Manage drawing revisions and maintain version control in accordance with engineering change control processes
Support engineering change requests (ECRs/ECOs) from initiation through release
Translate engineer sketches, concepts, and verbal direction into accurate, production‑ready prints
Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure drawings reflect real‑world machining constraints and tolerances
Maintain the drawing archive and ensure documentation is organized, current, and accessible
Assist engineers with design support tasks including basic modeling, BOM creation, and component research
Flag drawing conflicts or tolerance concerns before they reach the shop floor
Who You Are
Detail‑oriented : you catch errors before they become problems downstream
Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, high‑mix manufacturing environment : where priorities can shift
Collaborative by nature : you ask good questions and communicate clearly with both engineers and machinists
Takes ownership of your work product ; doesn't wait to be told when something looks wrong
Curious about how things are made , not just how they're drawn
What You Bring
A minimum of 2years of drafting or design drafting experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling, detailing, drawing management)
Solid understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent)
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
Familiarity with engineering change control processes (ECRs, ECOs, revision management)
Experience in machined components (turned, milled, or ground parts) strongly preferred
Exposure to AS9100 or ISO9001 quality environments (a plus)
Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
What Success Looks Like
Drawings released on time, accurate, and requiring minimal engineer rework
Shop floor has what they need to run the job without coming back to Engineering for clarification
Drawing archive is clean, current, and version‑controlled
ECR/ECO process moves efficiently with your support
Engineering team capacity increases, less time spent on drafting, more on design and problem‑solving
Why Join Helix At Helix, manufacturing isn't just what we do, it's who we are. Our work is built around precision, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
You'll work in a clean, climate‑controlled facility with advanced equipment, alongside machinists, engineers, operators, and commercial team members who take pride in their work and hold themselves to high standards.
Helix is building something meaningful, not just high‑precision products, but a company defined by integrity, clarity, and disciplined execution in industries where the stakes are high. We engineer with purpose, take ownership of our work, and believe doing things the right way matters.
We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, retirement plans, PTO, and major holidays, along with steady daytime hours.
If you take pride in solving problems, contributing to a team that values craftsmanship and accountability, and doing work where precision and reliability matter, Helix is a place where your work will truly matter.
Helix Linear Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Due to U.S. export control laws, applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).
