Boone County Family Resources is a rapidly growing community-based agency committed to supporting Boone County residents with developmental disabilities and their families to thrive in our community, connect with others and achieve their personal goals.

Boone County Family Resources is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Direct Support Specialist in our residential program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Direct Support Specialist is responsible for:

  • Developing a rapport with residents and cultivating a safe and supportive relationship
  • Assisting individuals with disabilities thriving in their homes by providing support with completing personal hygiene, grooming, cooking, laundry, cleaning, and shopping.
  • Supporting individuals with connecting in the community by assisting with transportation to work, activities, and appointments and providing support as needed during activities at various community locations.
  • Encouraging individuals to achieve their personal goals through the implementation of planned services and working collaboratively with other team members.
  • Work closely with the person served, their plan teams, and supervisors to develop, implement, and monitor/report progress on individual plan goals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Experience providing direct care to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Class E Chauffeurs license
  • Access to a licensed and insured vehicle
  • Demonstrate responsibility and maturity with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass applicable background checks and a pre-employment drug screening

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • May require prolonged periods of standing, bending, or walking.

Schedule: 40 hours per week with shifts ranging from 8-10 hours on weeknights, weekends, and some holidays. Staff works with individuals with ID/DD in a residential apartment setting.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary: Starting at $20.00/hour with additional weekend incentive. Eligible for merit-based raises at 6 months, 1 year, and annually thereafter.
