THE POSITION The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.
Responsible for providing customer service and accurately processing transactions. Provide customer service by welcoming customers, answering their questions, and helping them find what they need. Process transactions accurately and efficiently using a cash register and other payment processing equipment. Maintain an organized and clean retail store environment by stocking shelves, cleaning displays, and ensuring merchandise is properly priced and labeled. Assist with inventory management by receiving and tracking shipments, performing stock checks, and identifying discrepancies. Communicate with store management and team members to ensure a cohesive workplace. Participate in promotions and sales to increase store visibility and customer traffic. Adhere to all policies, including safety and security protocols.
The EDC has the following retail stores—Wintun Mini-Mart (gas station) and smoke shop.
For incumbents working at Wintun Mini-Mart, they will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of foods including snacks, hot meals, and sandwiches. Ensure that all food is prepared to standards according to customer preferences and dietary requirements. Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. Follow all food safety procedures, including proper handling and storage. Order and manage inventory of food ingredients and supplies. Ensure that all cooking equipment is clean and in good working order.
The current vacancy is at Wintun Mini-Mart for a regular, full‑time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet customers and ascertain their needs.
Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on customer needs.
Compute sales prices, total purchases, and process cash or credit payments, including credit/EBT cards.
Prepare merchandise for sale, including ticketing, arranging, and displaying it to promote sales.
Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment policies, exchanges, returns, and security practices.
Describe and demonstrate the use or operation of merchandise and explain its use and care to customers.
Identify and address security risks and thefts; know how to prevent or handle them.
Clean shelves, counters, displays, and tables; stock inventory and requisition new merchandise.
Open and close the cash register, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing the register, and supporting recordkeeping.
Scan merchandise using the cash register and/or gas console to show amounts due.
Prepare a pay‑point report upon completion of shift, in compliance with company guidelines.
Operate the cash register to record purchases per company policy; adjust receipts as needed.
Cook and prepare a variety of fast foods, including deep‑fried items, according to production guidelines.
Store food properly in accordance with food safety policies.
Sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils and report maintenance issues.
Develop and review menu schedules, determine food requirements, and assemble necessary supplies and equipment.
Review inventory and manage budgeting when acquiring supplies for kitchen operations.
Maintain the retail hot food, beverage, coffee sections, ensuring equipment is clean and stocked.
Check refrigeration equipment to meet performance standards; conduct shift inspections within an hour of shift start.
Instruct customers on how to use self‑serve equipment, as needed.
Communicate with management regarding requests or concerns.
Perform other duties consistent with position responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Three months of related experience and/or training. Prior retail or sales experience in tobacco products highly desirable.
LICENSING AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age at appointment.
Must be 21 years of age for those working in retail shops that sell tobacco products.
Must possess ABC/ServSafe certification for those working at Wintun Mini-Mart.
SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES None

Consistently report to work on time and in accordance with the assigned schedule.

Adhere to all federal and state regulations, including verifying age with valid ID for age‑restricted sales.
Follow work schedule as posted, unless a schedule change is arranged with the store manager or designee.
Stay familiar with policies and safety protocols.
Notify management of any discrepancies or problems.
Use time clock and sign timecards to verify hours worked.
Report accidents promptly.
Read and comprehend instructions, short memos, and correspondence.
Write correspondence.
Present information in one‑on‑one and group settings to guests and team members.
Compute necessary numbers for pay‑point reports.
Use money effectively and manage budget.
Count cash daily.
Apply common sense to carry out instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Mobility and Dexterity: require stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and grasping.
Lifting, Carrying, Pushing and Pulling: regularly exert force up to 10–50 pounds, depending on circumstances.
Vision: require close visual acuity, with or without corrections, to analyze data and interpret information.
Hearing/Talking: require perception of sounds and the ability to exchange information verbally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Occasionally work in hot, rainy, or outdoor conditions; exposure to fumes, chemicals, extreme cold, and electrical shock may occur.
Noise levels are usually moderate.
Work schedules may change, requiring adjustments in shift hours.
Employees may experience disruptive or confrontational situations.
