Responsibilities
Maintain and manage the City's technology security posture.
Align the City's security posture with industry best practices and controls.
Evaluate, analyze, respond to, and resolve enterprise security issues, concerns, questions, incidents, and events.
Collaborate with all departments in the development of information security training, standards, and practices.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a solid background in information security fundamentals, typically from an accredited program with a cybersecurity focus or related certifications such as SSCP or (ISC)². Experience managing security systems such as IDS, IPS, SIEM, and a solid understanding of network architecture and compliance standards is required. The candidate must be organized, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, possess good communication skills, and be willing to continue learning the necessary skills for the role.
Experience and Education
College degree (BS/BA) in business information systems, computer science, or a related field.
Two years of job‑related experience in information security.
Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license by time of appointment.
Within one year of employment, obtain a Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) through ISACA or (ISC)² and maintain this certification for the duration of employment.
Physical Standards Positions in this class are typically situated in a standard office environment with little exposure to the weather. The job may require crawling, stooping, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Selection Process Application and supplemental materials will be evaluated. Applicants who appear most qualified will be invited to a job‑related interview and/or examination. Successful candidates may be required to pass a background check, physical examination, and/or drug screen.
